July 22, 2021We pride ourselves on being Tanzania luxury safari experts. Who are we to say so? Have a look at our independent reviews from Safari Bookings.
With the most stunning accommodation Tanzania has to offer, handpicked local guides with the expert knowledge to get you where the action is and options to combine your safari with a beach trip and various other luxury add ons, we provide the best luxury safaris Tanzania has to offer.
Luxury safaris in Tanzania are an experience like no other. When you opt for luxury, no expense is spared to ensure your comfort, enjoyment and excitement during your safari. Tanzania has rare treats such as the great wildebeest migration and sightings of chimpanzees in the Mahale Mountains which should be experienced in the highest quality way, without jeopardizing the wild and enchanting experiences that Tanzania offers.
Whether it’s how remote the location is, the taste of the local cuisine, how intimate the experience is with the wild animals you are spotting or how truly breathtaking both your accomodation and the scenery around your accommodation are, you can be certain of the most magnificent experience with Tailormade Africa.
To us, there are three main focal points that make a Tanzania safari luxurious:
- Time - you should never feel rushed and should be able to enjoy your safari experience at your own pace, and be afforded the maximum amount of time required to view the wildlife that you want to see
- Isolation - luxury safaris in Tanzania should not leave you feeling like you’re on a tourist trail. You’ll be given the space, privacy and priority treatment that you rightly deserve
- Experience - we offer the most unique luxury safaris Tanzania has to offer, so you’re likely to experience a lot of things for the first time ever
Tanzania safaris are vast and varied depending on what you want to experience. We have clients that enjoy the remoteness of a specific location and are willing to compromise on how luxurious the camp feels, and others that want 5 star accommodation and want to mingle with other travellers. Contact our team today, preferably by phone, to allow us to get to know you a little and advise on the kind of luxury safari that would give you your trip of a lifetime experience.
Tanzania Luxury Safari FAQs
If you’re planning on taking a luxury safari in Tanzania, there are a few items that you will not want to leave behind! These include:
- Binoculars - so you can get even closer to the action! Your tour guide should have some binoculars anyway but if you don’t want to share binoculars (because taking turns may cause you to miss out on something) then you can always look into bringing along your own.
- Appropriate & lightweight clothing - clothing needs to be lightweight so that you are comfortable in the heat and should be appropriate for the occasion...heavy jeans and heels will not be ideal!
- Camera - taking mental pictures and living in the moment is advised, however, when you’re surrounded by beautiful views and incredible wildlife, you will almost certainly want to take a picture to last a lifetime!
- Toiletries - safaris can be sweaty work in the heat! Make sure you pack some basic toiletries so that you can freshen up at your luxury lodge or campsite.
- Medical kit - just in case! Make sure you pack all of the medication you will need for the safari trip also.
- Suncream - to protect you from the sun.
- Backpack - to keep all of your documents and equipment safe in
- Passport & travel documents - keep these with you at all times
- Cash - to tip your tour guide and for any stop off points where you may wish to purchase souvenirs or snacks.
First and foremost, you will want to be comfortable on your luxury safari in Tanzania (it would be such a shame if uncomfortable clothing spoilt your trip!) so here are a few ideas of what clothing you should wear on your luxury safari in Tanzania:
- Lightweight clothes - you are probably going to get hot during the day! Stick to light trousers/shorts and pair them with a t-shirt or long-sleeved top if you burn easily (this will offer more protection from the sun).
- Fleece/warm clothes - the days might be hot but the nights can be very cold! Keep a cosy jacket with you so that you are warm during early mornings and late evenings.
- Hat - this will protect your scalp from sunburns.
- Sunglasses - to protect your eyes from the sun...you don't want to be squinting the whole day and only seeing a fraction of the action!
- Neutral colours - try to keep your outfit neutral, avoiding both bright and dark colours.
Tanzania is one of the best locations in Africa for safaris and different areas offer different experiences...so where you go for your luxury safari in Tanzania will depend on your personal preferences and what experiences you’re hoping for. If you are looking to spot the ‘Big 5’ or witness the Great Wildebeest Migration, northern Tanzania and the Serengeti are packed with action; on the other hand, if you fancy getting up close and personal with chimpanzees, Mahale is a one-of-a-kind place to visit to observe them in their natural habitat.

Our luxury safaris in Tanzania are second to none, however, Tanzania has so much more to offer, here are just some of the other things you can do:
- Relax in Zanzibar, Tanzania’s luxurious spice island - here, you can totally relax and let your troubles melt away as your toes sink into its sandy beaches, or, you can have a go at snorkeling and scuba diving.
- Explore Tanzania by bike through the stunning countryside and coffee plantations
- Hop on a hot air balloon safari for a better view - Float above the plains of the Serengeti for truly outstanding scenic views.
- Climb Mount Kilimanjaro - if you love climbing, why not take on the tallest mountain on the African continent, Mount Kilimanjaro. Reaching its peak is a mighty challenge and an incredible achievement for you to boast about!
- See flocks of flamingos at Lake Manyara, the seventh-largest lake of Tanzania.
- Visit a masai village and learn about the masai way of life.
Tanzania is located on the eastern coast of Africa and is a popular tourist destination thanks to it being home to national parks filled with wildlife and Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest point.
Tanzania is a perfectly safe country to visit - both generally and for safaris. That said, you will need to take care to follow government travel advice and guidelines. As with any country, you should also avoid isolated areas and remain both alert and observant when in unfamiliar settings.
You can enjoy Tanzania at any time of the year but the best time to visit will depend on where you’re going and what you’re hoping to experience. That said, the dry season (July-October) is considered to be the best time for a safari as this is when you can witness the Great Wildebeest Migration, river crossings and other incredible wildlife sightings. If you’re planning on a Serengeti safari, then visiting Tanzania in southern Serengeti between February and March is also great because 200,000 to 300,000 baby wildebeest, zebras and gazelles are birthed over the course of a few weeks. If you’re not sure when to visit Tanzania for your luxury safari, why not speak to our safari experts Rob or Clyde so that they can ensure you visit the right areas at the right times.
