Chobe National Park
Chobe National Park boasts some of the largest elephant herds in all of Africa. Watch these gentle giants bathe in the rivers that crisscross the park while seeing adorable baby calves find their feet.
The park offers plenty of incredible accommodation options, and there are dozens of other animals besides elephants! Go on game drives, boat safaris, and walking safaris to make the most of your time in southern Africa!
Central Kalahari Game Reserve
Have you heard about the majestic Kalahari Desert? The desert habitat is very different from anywhere else in Botswana. While you may not get to see as many different animal species as you would at some of the other African game reserves, visiting the Central Kalahari provides a unique experience that offers a fascinating insight into the realities of desert life, especially for the wildlife that has adapted to this harsh environment. Not to mention, the views which are incredible—an absolute must-see at least once in your lifetime.
Mashatu Game Reserve
Located in the far eastern corner of Botswana, Mashutu Game Reserve is home to three of the Big Five (leopard, lion, and elephant). You’ll also have the opportunity to see ostriches, massive baobab trees, honey badgers, and over 350 different bird species. The reserve is truly a paradise for animal lovers!
Okavango Delta
The magnificent Okavango Delta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hundreds of different animal species, including hippos, crocodiles, zebras, and elephants, occur in the inland wetlands.
The Okavango Delta is made up of around ten different concessions, including Moremi Central National Park. Each of these concessions has its own camp, so you have plenty of accommodation options to choose from.
The Makgadikgadi Salt Pans
Every year, around 25,000 zebras and other grazing animals make their way to the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans in search of drinking water and nutrient-rich grass. This is the perfect opportunity to witness an incredible natural spectacle and see predators in action as they take advantage of the massive influx of prey in the area. The best places to stay to experience the phenomenon include Jacks Camp and San Camp.
