July 23, 2020Important Travel Requirements As Rwanda Re-opens
July 30, 2020Mauritius is one of the world’s most sublime destinations. It pretty much has it all, with pristine white beaches, celebrated nature reserves and forests, historical monuments, a very rich culture, exuberant marine and bird life, deluxe hotels, and an infinite list of adventure and water sporting activities – including scuba diving, surfing and even swimming with dolphins!
Fascinating experiences on Mauritius Holidays
In just a handful of days, you could have more fascinating experiences than you ever dreamed of. Visit a Hindu temple or an old Dutch fortress, surf off Tamarin beach, tee off a championship golf course, spot birdlife in the vast Yemen Reserve, visit open air markets, walk around quaint fishing villages on the hunt for fresh seafood lunches, learn all about the extinct dodo bird or you might even find yourself in a submerged volcanic crater. Mauritius is also famous for its colourful coral reefs which are full of amazing marine life, and easily considered one of the most spectacular dive sites in the world. Unlike the reputation the island has as a simple ‘fly and flop’ destination, it has so much going on and therefore really does cater to travellers who are up for more than a simple seaside pampering (although you can enjoy that too!)
Mauritius is a destination for all
This is a truly world-class holiday destination which can suit any style and type of traveller, from those single adventurers to romantic honeymoon couples, multi-generational families or even just two mates who want to have an incredible cultural experience with some stunning pristine beaches thrown in! Here at Tailormade Africa, we really believe in Mauritius as an all-round destination, and urge you to experience all that this country has to offer.
That’s why we have put together an awesome SPECIALS ITINERARY for you which is so much more than just beautiful long white beaches, turquoise lagoons and vast blue horizons with stunning crystal-clear water (all of which is simply a given when visiting Mauritius). We urge you to check it out, as we take you on a journey of a lifetime to really experience all that this Indian Ocean island has to offer.
8-Night Culture and Crystal Clear Seas in Mauritius
From just $3,845 per person sharing* you can enjoy this magnificent 8-night itinerary which showcases the best of this stunning island. You will get to experience not only the beautiful natural sights but also take in the culture of the place - something that Mauritius is very rich in. As the home of the long-extinct dodo bird, there is so much on offer here. An unusual rocky protuberance crowning Pieter Both Mountain; Le Morne; the sugar cane factories rising out from the sugar cane fields; turquoise lagoons; colourful religious festivals; smiling people; rose-tinted sunsets; Le Coin de Mire; market stalls piled high with vegetables and spices; the vast blue horizon; white beaches... the list goes on and on.
Your journey will start off with four nights at the beautiful St Regis which is set on one of the island's most stunning and sheltered stretches of blond beach on Mauritius' southwest tip on the legendary Le Morne Peninsula - a celebrated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The giant monolith, Le Morne Brabant, provides a dramatic backdrop to this 5-star luxury resort. There are so many fantastic facilities here you can either get super active or get super pampered!
While in this area, you will get the chance to hike up Le Morne Mountain which is steeped in myth and legend and will certainly get your heart pumping. You will also get to visit the largest National Park on the island, Black River Gorges. This is the last true untouched nature reserve left in Mauritius and you will get to enjoy a guided walk through spectacular scenery to encounter endemic, tropical fauna and flora and some of the most spectacular waterfalls on the island. A trip to this area is also not complete without a trip to the Multi Coloured Earth of Chamarel. It is a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (approximately red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow) and it utterly mesmerising.
Your second half of your trip will be with a base at the One & Only Saint Géran which is set on a private peninsula with over a mile of white-sand beaches and 60 acres of gardens. This was the first luxury hotel on the island, built in 1975, and has reopened after a nine-month multimillion-dollar transformation. The iconic colonial-style architecture has been blended with understated contemporary architecture inspired by old sugar cane factories, plantation houses and Mauritian-style sugar cane thatch.
While here, you will visit Vallée de Ferney, a forest and wildlife reserve which is one of the last nature sanctuaries on the island. It provides a haven to a great variety of indigenous species like the Mauritian flying fox and Kestrel as well as giant Tortoise. One of your days will be filled by a full day out on the sea - probably the most fun you can have in Mauritius! This boating excursion will give you the chance to enjoy snorkelling, sight-seeing, island hopping and the most delicious lobster lunch! We have also included a traditional Mauritian lunch with Marie Michelle. Not only will you enjoy the most amazing local food, but also learn all about Mauritian family life and culture.
