September 4, 2018The experience will make you realise that the Sierra Leone Marathon is a part of something so much bigger
The five-day life-changing challenge will leave you feeling emotional with many stories to tell. This unique opportunity will help you see how you help change the lives of children, families and communities across Sierra Leone.
Street Child projects
Begin by meeting some of the children living in rural communities who have been given the chance to go to school thanks to your support. Your support has also helped Street Child build schools and train teachers.
See the smile on the kids faces as you play soccer with them, take part in activities from paper plane making to teaching a class. Take the opportunity to teach the kids songs and games from your childhood.
As you make your way to the towns and cities, you will see how your support has helped Street Child empower families by setting up businesses so that they can support their children’s education.
You can join a workshop with one of our in-country teams to hear more about our work and about all the progress that you see. This is a great way to get up to date with the project and how more children in need will be helped.
Marathon day
On the day of the Marathon, you will be filled with emotion knowing you will be running pass so many children and families who will benefit from you being there. Whether you choose to walk, run or jog, they will have a brighter future because of your support for the greater cause.
Moment of reflection
As you near the end of your experience, take the time to travel to one of Sierra Leone’s stunning beaches, relax and reflect on all you know and have seen. It is a once-in-a-lifetime journey, but also a journey that continues for so many who go home, share stories with friends and family and mobilise support for the years to come.
