The group of hikers set off from Karanga Camp at 3995 metres for a three to four-hour trek up to base camp called Barafu at 4673 metres. After spending a few days climbing at the same height to acclimatise, the group was happy to be ascending closer to Uhuru Peak.
The group arrives a little earlier at Barafu than they have the previous few days, which is a sign that things are going to be a little different with summit day only hours away.
The summit attempt is preceded by a short acclimatisation walk before the 12 am summit climb commences. Stay tuned for an epic Day 7 video which features the summit, ultimately what everyone looks forward to when climbing Kilimanjaro.
