Our good friend Luke Brown caught up with Suzanne from Seattle in the United States who travelled with her hubby Bill to Zimbabwe and the Victoria Falls for a full safari. They chat about their (Suzanne & Bill's) experience of travelling during COVID to dispel any myths and give you a 'real' perspective of what it's like and what you can come to expect. They really had an awesome time without any hiccups or COVID-related issues. They also get into the basic travel requirements.

Can I travel to Zimbabwe & Africa?

The short answer is yes! US citizens are regularly updated on which countries they can travel to and which they should avoid during the pandemic. Suzanne and Bill received an email while they were in Zimbabwe warning them not to travel to Zimbabwe and they just laughed at it. Now this is not out of any disrespect to the US government, policy makers or anyone else who has been affected by this devastating virus, it is just that being in Zimbabwe they have experienced first-hand how well things are done to ensure everyone's safety. In addition, the number of travellers are still very low and being fully vaccinated makes travel to Zimbabwe and other African countries quite safe. In terms of other African countries, it may be best to check in with us first as we get regular updates on the regulations pertaining to each country.

So what are the current COVID entry requirements for Zimbabwe?

It is a very simple procedure of presenting a vaccination certificate and a 72-hour negative PCR test, together with the regular travel requirements. The process of getting back into the US may take a bit longer than the 10-minute process in Zimbabwe, but it is still well worth it according to Suzanne & Bill.

What is it like travelling around Zimbabwe during COVID?

As Suzanne puts it, 'simply a pleasure'. They always felt safe and that every precaution had been taking to make sure they were and indeed felt safe in terms of coronavirus. Something that most don't know is that every person working in the travel industry in Zimbabwe is also vaccinated to increase the safety of travellers.

If all of this is not enough encouragement that travel to Zimbabwe is safe during these times, Suzanne becomes very emotional toward the end of this video, as the experience to her and Bill was simply beautiful. Africa seems to creep under your skin and touches the heart of those who visit.
