Sarara Camp is a true experiential safari experience in the heart of the Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy and the flagship for community conservation in Africa. It is also home to quality Leopard sightings.
In the northern frontier of Kenya, lies the Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy, an area of 850,000 acres of pristine wilderness in the Mathews Range. The savannah plains and lush mountain slopes are home to elephant, leopard, reticulated giraffe, wild dog and kudu in ever increasing numbers. This remote and dramatic landscape is also home to the local Samburu people whose age-old traditions, including the famous ‘singing wells’ are as much a part of the fabric of this land as the wildlife.
Sarara is a conservation brand that partners with indigenous communities to build sustainability for people and wildlife through truly unique and experiential safari experiences. Part of the community-owned Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy in the heart of the Mathews Range, and in partnership with the Northern Rangelands Trust, Sarara has fast become a flagship model for community conservation across Africa.
Sarara has established itself as one of the hot spots for quality leopard viewing in Africa and equally, for close-up sightings of the normally extremely shy lesser kudu antelope. The African wild dogs are frequently encountered in the Sarara valley too. Elephant, buffalo, giraffe, gerenuk, impala and warthogs are now regularly seen on Sarara game drives and bush walks.
Sarara Camp boasts with Luxury Tents that have private decks with magnificent views of Mathews Mountain Range and elephants frequently visiting the pool at the family friendly Sarara House.
Sarara has six luxury tents, each positioned to maximise the stunning views of the Mathews Range and the watering hole. Each tent is spacious with high ceilings, plenty of cupboard space, electric lighting and 24 hour hot and cold running water. There is an outdoor bathroom with views of the hills from the shower, and also an indoor toilet and sink at the back of the tent. Each tent has its own private terrace to enjoy your morning coffee and tea whilst gazing out over the mountains.
Sarara House is a two bedroom tented family unit that includes a beautiful plunge pool, private dining, its own sitting room and endless views of the Mathews Range. Sarara House has become famous for its elephant, which are regular visitors to the house pool and offer guests incredibly up close and personal experiences as they come for their water. This is the perfect African wilderness home for families and friends traveling together.
