&Beyond Kichwa Tembo Camp is sprawled along the Saparingo River on the edge of the Oloololo escarpment, where riverine forest meets the sweeping plains in the seasonal path of the awe-inspiring Great Migration, the camp provides an authentic dose of African wildlife, delivered with legendary Kenyan hospitality.
Set on a private concession, with abundant iconic wildlife and panoramic Masai Mara views, Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp dazzles with its contemporary safari feel. With timeless interiors that are simple yet sophisticated and stylish, the camp enhances guests’ sense of privacy and enjoyment. There are 12 Classic Tents, 20 Superior Tents and 8 Superior View tents. All are laid out in immaculate grounds, with leisurely groups of warthog feeding right outside the tent doors. Maasai-inspired interiors firmly entrench &Beyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp as the unrivalled luxury tented camp of its size in the greater Mara.
Massive windows in the spacious guest areas invite the Mara inside and incorporate split-level spaces where guests can relax and unwind. Pick and choose delicious ingredients from the organic garden and enjoy convivial conversations in the inviting interactive kitchen. Indulge in a rejuvenating treatment inspired by holistic healing in the massage tent or browse the Safari Shop, offering the finest Kenyan handicrafts. The rim-flow swimming pool, literally on the edge of the Mara, boasts one of the world’s most extraordinary views.
Kichwa Tembo Camp has a wide variety of luxurious tented suites to suit most needs. The interiors are timeless, yet sophisticated and stylish.
Classic Tents
Classic Tents are nestled in a forest near the Saparingo River. Big comfortable beds adorn the space while wooden furniture blends seamlessly with the more classic, safari-style interiors. The Classic Tents have shared use of the same guest areas as the Superior Tents, with a double-storey bar and lounge area featuring expansive windows to celebrate the romance and nostalgia of the Mara.
Superior Tents
The Superior Tents feature beautiful Maasai inspired interiors that showcase a simple and contemporary use of local materials. Oversized beds are perfectly positioned to make the most of the views, while stained cypress wood furniture combine with tribal decorative elements, making for an authentic display of the culture. These tents are in the forest and don’t have Mara views.
Superior Family Tents
The camp has three Family Tents – two are set within the forest and a third Family Tent enjoys spectacular Mara views. Each Family Tent comprises of two interconnected tents with an ensuite bathroom, a private veranda and can accommodate two adults and two children (three at special request). Superior Tents are suitable for triples (parents sharing with child) and the camp can accommodate three triples at one time.
Superior View Tents
Superior View Tents offer panoramic views of the Masai Mara. Each tent features beautiful Maasai inspired interiors that showcase a simple and contemporary use of local materials. Some of these tents feature partial views and glimpses of the Mara through the forest canopy, others are situated in the forest and offer exceptional views of the birdlife and the rest look out on the nearby escarpment.
