Life at Ol Malo is about experiences. There are no pre-timed game drives or regimented schedules here. They have helicopters, safari cars, mountain bikes, horses, and camels just waiting to take you on an adventure.
Ol Malo is a privately-owned game sanctuary on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River in Kenya's wild and beautiful North Eastern Province - 5,000 acres of spectacular bush country overlooked by Mount Kenya and teeming with the elusive antelope from which the land takes its name.
In this majestic setting - on a rock escarpment on the edge of the Laikipia Plateau, bordering the tribal heartlands of the nomadic Samburu people – the Francombe family and their Samburu neighbours have created a home for themselves and a dream destination for the privileged few who seek a glimpse into the true heart of Africa.
With decor inspired by the areas wild landscape, local flora and the life and culture of the Samburu people, the house offers three double ensuite bedrooms encircling a large sitting and dining area with open fireplaces. Nearby separate cottages provide an additional three double ensuite bedrooms. Ol Malo House is the perfect mix of home comfort, luxury and safari adventure; ideal for families or large groups.
Ol Malo was designed in a luxury ranch style, built by hand with materials of the land as one of the north’s original bush homes. The spacious rooms are safari-inspired with added Samburu beading flare.
Cottages
Each room has its own veranda and complete en suite bathroom. The rooms are safari-inspired and made with wood and natural materials from the land, with added Samburu beading flare. The high ceilings are constructed with woven thatch and natural stone walls. Large picture windows frame a wild, constantly changing landscape.
Family Cottage
Situated along the edge of the escarpment, maximising the expansive views, the two-bedroomed family cottage has a shared bathroom. The interior decor is tasteful, complemented with beadwork from the Samburu Trust that Ol Malo supports.
