Kinondo Kwetu is an African “Home away from Home” - a place where you really can you “feel” where you are. A place that winds you down where you are completely content in doing nothing at all – but with the option to do a lot if you want.
Home to Ida and Filip Andersson and their three children, a Swedish family related to the famed Baron Blixen, Kinondo Kwetu is often described as a ‘home away from home’ - a paradise for those wanting a more personal experience on the Kenyan coast. Located on a tranquil private beach on a 16 acre plot south of Diani Beach, distanced from residential neighbours by rocky cliffs and endless beach, Kinondo Kwetu is classified as a ‘Kaya’ area (protected by the National Museum) due to its surrounding holy forests and sacred land.
Every room and cottage has its own personalized charm, as it is furnished and decorated with Swahili culture handicraft and antiquities. Three course lunches and dinners are served daily in different spots across the property - by the beach under the shade of the trees or in the evening under the stars. All the fresh fruits and vegetables are locally grown and the fresh fish and seafood come from the lodge's own "backyard" - the Indian Ocean.
Every room and cottage has its own personalized charm, as it is furnished and decorated with Swahili culture handicraft and antiquities. Many rooms are able to accommodate more than two people.
Mama Taa Villa
Mama Taa Villa is perfect for both couples and families. The villa has one honeymoon suite, one family suite, four family interconnecting rooms and two double rooms. All rooms include ensuite bathrooms, a veranda or balcony, and air conditioning.
Mama Tina Villa
The Mama Tina Villa rooms are a good option for families that want to place their teenage kids in a their own room as a cheaper option. There is a double bedroom (with air conditioning) & two bedrooms (ceiling fans only) with a shared bathroom.
Cottages
Kinondo Kwetu has five cottages - three double bedroom cottages, and one double bedroom connecting to a single room for a smaller family. There is one big family suite cottage with a double bedroom connecting to a single room downstairs and one double bedroom upstairs. Facilities include ensuite bathrooms, private furnished verandas, and air conditioning. All have views of the ocean.
Alex House
This is a private villa for a family. Facilities include four bedrooms, two bathrooms, ad an open-plan living room/kitchen. The house is very private and air conditioned.
