Day 1 of the epic adventure, climbing Kilimanjaro comes with much anticipation and excitement. There is also much preparation that goes into a trek like this.
This series of eight videos serve as an inspiration to everyone thinking of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Day 1 journals the initial experiences of the group as they drive from Moshi (890m above sea level) to Londorossi Gate (2385m above sea level), and hike the first short 5 kilometres to MTI Mkubwa Camp (also known as Big Tree Camp at 2700m) which takes around three and a quarter hours.
The group varies in climbing experience from beginner to more experienced hikers. You will get to meet the hikers who originate from the United States, United Kingdom and Australia. One thing everyone has in common is the desire to conquer the highest peak in Africa.
The hikers will share their dreams of climbing Kili, what their greatest anticipated concerns are, but most of all they will share their enthusiasm and experience of each day's challenges.
This 8-day series follows the climbers along the renowned Lemosho Route starting at 2100m above sea level and ends on day 7 on Uhuru Peak at 5895m above sea level.
